Awesome in Brookline

Brian Healy's Addition to the Korean Church, an open competition winner celebrating the church's 50th anniversary, is brilliantly out of context, yet perfectly in scale. The mundane street is enlivened by this small, yet proportionally exciting exclamation point. Of course all the shouters of "context" are probably up in arms. If they look a bit closer, they will see that amoung the Wallgreens stucco and the Pierce School and other commercial buildings and churches, the context is ripe for this interesting bit of modernism, one that reinforces the kind of diversity that Brookline residents so staunchly support. We applaud the Brookline Board of Selectmen for getting behind this project.

MFA Update: New Wing Revealed

Scaffolding is down and the finishes are almost complete at the new wing of the Museum of Fine Arts by Foster and Partners. This is looking great, in context, scale, but with a great modern articulation that is a pleasure. Work continues on the interior, West wing and landscaping.
